Whitechapel Estate Listed Buildings.
Chris Dyson Architects LLP.
Conversion of 25 early Victorian houses, Whitechapel, London.
Planning approval and listed building consent has been granted to revert 25 early Victorian houses in Whitechapel back into family homes. The houses, 21 of which are listed, were until recently used by the Royal London Hospital as treatment centres, offices and staff accommodation.
The scheme treats each house individually, providing a tailored design for each. The guiding principle for the scheme was to retain and restore the best of the past whilst adapting the buildings to suit twenty first century living. Discrete interventions have been used to create generous, light filled family spaces that flow out into gardens.
