Alwyne Place.
Chris Dyson Architects LLP.
Refurbishment and extension, Westminster, London.
Constructed in the 1830’s as part of a terrace, the house has been overhauled from top to bottom, making the house fit for modern living.
Careful attention has been paid to the surviving Georgian details in the house, refurbishing and repairing many original decorative features. Years of paint were carefully striped back from cornices, skirting boards and mouldings to reveal long lost hidden details. Blocked up fireplaces were reinstated and dressed with reclaimed Regency fire surrounds.
To maximise the floor space we reconfigured and extended a two storey rear extension, adding an extra bedroom, a snug, and a rear terrace at piano nobile level. These rooms will give the house more flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of its occupiers over time.
